Today Sweet Note Bakery, ran by 4 Crazy Bagel Ladies and a team of bakers, manufactures gluten-free bagels which sell in over 25 states, 600+ retail locations, and hundreds of restaurants within the first 2 years of business. Michelle originally developed the bagel to pay honor to her family members who have celiac disease. Did you know that 1 in 133 people in the United States are affected with celiac disease, but the majority of them remain undiagnosed? It is estimated that 29% of the United States population are eating gluten-free for a variety of reasons (i.e. intolerance, health, etc.). So, basically, going the extra mile to remove the top 8 food allergens was a no-brainer. From 1997 to 2011, there was a 50% increase in food allergies found in children, according to the CDC?<1> That is a pretty significant increase if you ask us! Did you also know that food allergies and/or sensitivities can develop at any age? The increasing number of food allergy diagnosis is a growing public health concern with no scientifically proven cause as to why. BUT The New York Times took a stab at it. We continually test our product to make sure they remain gluten-free and top 8 allergen-free!
